I haven’t had a full week off in four years. The shop doesn’t close, so neither do I. Small business owners, how do you actually take a week off?

Shop local is not a reason to buy

Why these ideas work

Small business owners have the best stories on LinkedIn and post the least.

You serve customers, chase an invoice and cover a sick shift, often before lunch. By the time you sit down, a post feels like one more job you’ll do badly. So you skip it.

But the things you deal with every day are exactly what people want to read. The regular who stopped coming in, the supplier who let you down, what a haircut really costs. Nobody else can tell those stories, because nobody else was there.

How to use them

Pick the idea that reminds you of something from this month. A customer, a bad day, a number you worked out. Start there.

Your job is to tell it plainly. Name the day, say what happened, say what you changed. People trust a business more when they can see the owner thinking.

Tip: Don’t turn it into an advert. The moment a post becomes a sales pitch, people scroll past, and they remember your name for the wrong reason.

Fresh ideas go up every Monday. Save this page and come back when the shop gives you a story.

What should a small business owner post on LinkedIn?

Post about the real running of your business: customers, staff, suppliers, the slow months and the busy ones. A specific story from your own shop or service beats general tips every time.

Is LinkedIn worth it for a small local business?

Yes. It’s where business customers, suppliers and future staff look you up. A few honest posts a month give them a reason to pick you over the business down the road.

Can I use these ideas without paying?

Yes. Every idea on this page is free, with no sign-up. You only need a free account if you want Wiri to write the post for you.

Can Wiri write the post in my voice?

Yes. Tell Wiri what happened in your business in a line or two, and it writes three posts that sound like you. Pick one, change what you like, and post it.
